Vanuatu Kava....Damn its good!

This Blog is dedicated to all of you who enjoy Vanuatu Kava. Having lived in Vanuatu for 4 years, I managed to get a healthy taste for "Piper Methysticum" at the various nakamals in Port Vila as well as kava bars and real nakamals in the outer islands.

A friend once commented to me that Vanuatu kava is like liquid valium...and how true that is! After trying lesser grade kava from other South Pacific countries like Fiji and Samoa, nothing and I repeat nothing beats kava from Vanuatu.

Nakamals in Port Vila that I recomend are:

Maewo
These guys used to bring in top grade kava from Pentacost and use fresh rain water to prepare their kava. Awesome view as well. I understand that the place has changed management, but its worth checking out.

This place is big and can get a little noisy...well for a kava bar anyways. The Kava though is consistantly strong and there are always seating areas so you and your pals can have a few kava shells and a chat in private. The only problem I had with this place was the strong septic smell near the entrance.

Jean jack - Last flight Nakamal
this opened just before I left. It is near the airport..thus the name. The kava here is exceptionally strong even for vanuatu kava standards. Its a tidy place and the staff are friendly....and buxom!!!

Ok this is just a miniscule percentage of the kava bars in Vanuatu, post on here and let me know your Vanuatu Kava experience and favourite nakamals.

cheers

I have been using Quick Kava Premium from Vanuatu Kava Store to see me through my kava withdrawals back home and their standard dried kava when I want to prepare the kava myself...something I find theraputic at times!
